Reboot En Route: How We Got Started
Starting a business is never straightforward. There are late nights fuelled by coffee, more “what ifs” than you’d like to admit, and at least one family member asking, “Are you sure about this?”
So, we thought our first blog was the perfect place to spill the beans on how Reboot En Route began. Spoiler: it involves broken laptops, bad timing, and a lightbulb moment that changed everything.
Why We Started..
Let’s be honest. When your laptop or desktop suddenly gives up—screen cracked, battery dying faster than your Monday motivation, refusing to turn on… or even that file you deleted on Teams by accident (oops)—it’s never convenient. Always the worst timing, right?
And the options out there? Meh.
Repair shops: long waits, endless back-and-forth, or sending your kit off into the abyss for weeks.
On-site engineers/IT support: raise a ticket, wait for the auto-reply… and eventually someone turns up, sets up camp in the middle of your office, and suddenly you feel obliged to make them a cuppa. Awkward, disruptive, and still no guarantee it’s fixed quickly.
That’s where the van comes in. Instead of us being in the way, we work from our mobile workshop right outside your door. Minimal disruption, little to no downtime, and you get your kit back without your workspace turning into a repair bay.

Building the Business
Now, having the idea is one thing. Turning it into reality? Whole different ball game.
First came the van. The back of it had to become a mini workshop on wheels — which sounded simple until we were crammed in there with paint pots, tools, and a lot of head-scratching. Let’s just say there were moments of “are we high on paint fumes or just high on ambition?” Every inch had to be used wisely so we could handle anything from cosmetic revamps to smashed screens. Small space, big ambition.
Then came the client portal. What we thought would be a quick job — “let’s just make a booking system” — turned into weeks of late nights, endless tweaking, and testing it from every possible client angle. We wanted it to feel easy whether you’re tech-savvy or the type who only just learned how to share your screen on Teams.
And while all that was going on, we were also building a brand and a website that made booking a repair feel as easy as ordering a takeaway. (No 15-step checkout forms, promise.)
Were there hiccups? Of course. There always are. But every paint-splattered afternoon and caffeine-fuelled night just reinforced our mission: to make repairs and refurb as painless as possible.
